As Deputy OIC, Captain Cox is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the 850th. From ensuring the website is up to date- to meeting with a squaring away new members with a welcome and introduction to the MEU. Officers and cadets alike will meet with Captain Cox first before reporting to MEU OIC.

As Officer-In-Charge of the 850th. Colonel Cupps is responsible for the overall operation of the 850th MEU. From promotions, to month reporting to award recommendations, the OIC is ultimately responsible for the success or failures of the unit as a whole.

Second Lieutenant Cupps is the Second Officer of the MEU. Assigned the support role of third in command of the MEU, 2LT Cupps can serve in the absence of any command staff or department head. This versatility allows for a staffed and active command presence at all times within the 850th/
